Hotel at Pokrovsky Gates

Restaurant in a XIX century hotel building

not implemented

History

By order of Emperor Paul I, in the early 19th century, a two-story hotel was built on the site of the White City. Many believe that the author of the project was architect V.P. Stasov, hence the building is also called the "Stasov's" hotel, although there is no official confirmation of this. From 1805 to 1825, the hotel was under construction. The sponsor was merchant Guseva, who bought the territory between Chistoprudny Boulevard and Pokrovka.Shops occupied the first floor, while the left wing, "facing" Chistye Prudy, was chosen by the investor for a new fashionable restaurant.

design and implementation period

Concept

The restaurant concept includes a cafe, bar and restaurant zone. The bureau's main task was to preserve the spirit of the historic building so that visitors would feel the history of the cultural heritage site during their inside visit.

Solution

Conservation of elements of the historical interiors became an integral part of the restoration work. The existing ceiling was preserved, cleaned from centuries-old dirt, and highlighted to show the beauty of the natural wood. Monumental frescoes, created based on the artworks of Alexander Deineka, were added to the walls to add a playful touch to the interior.
